I have finished the cocobolo handles for the Stanley socket chisels as seen in the photo above. These handles are designed for the Stanley #750/720 socket chisels. The tapers will be made on the large side allowing the user to fit them to most chisels. If the customer does not feel comfortable fitting the new handle they can ship the chisel to me and I will fit the new handle at no extra charge.
Cocobolo is an absolutely gorgeous wood! These handles need no varnish. the wood is waterproof and will not float. I polish the wood to 1000P grit and various non-woven abrasives. Then it is rubbed with a special blend that I make and waxed with carnauba.
Look for the new cocobolo chisel handles on my website very soon. As soon as I get caught up on my backlog of orders for new knob & tote sets I will begin to take orders for the new chisel handles, about 2 weeks.
A new article on wood threading with a modern screwbox and tap is in the works and should be here next week, I hope.
As always, thanks for stopping by and happy woodworking.
They look really good! I have had a bit of luck on eBay recently, and some of my new acquisitions are handle-less socket chisels! Your timing couldn’t be better! I’ll keep an eye out for when you are ready to go with these guys, I will have to send the tool to you, I don’t have a lathe to turn the handle to fit the socket. Thanks for all you do!
