Recently I have been working on replacement wood for the very popular Miller’s Falls #2 eggbeater drill. Pictured above is the final product. It will screw right on to the MF #2.
The picture above shows a comparison of the new to the original. The ferrule on the new knob is brass and the original was nickel-plated. Also, the new ferrule is a little smaller in diameter and a little longer than the original. These differences will be addressed in the final version.
My purpose is to keep the old tools in service for another generation not to deceive anyone into thinking this is an original Miller’s Falls part.
This knob is for sale if anyone is interested.
Thanks for stopping by abd please feel free to leave a comment.
looks nice. I’m still considering one for my Yankee 1530. I haven’t worked up the nerve to grind the old one off. 🙂
You can make a new knob, but you will never get the attachment exactly like the original, but you can make it look as good as new.

Thank you for your kind words. FYI I am currently working on a replacement crank knob for the MF #2 and have plans for making replacement main handles.
You get replacement cranks with handles perfected for MF 2A, please consider this your first order.
I assume you need a crank handle and a crank knob?
Do you need a crank handle and a crank knob?
How much for the Millers Falls side knob?
The MF #2 side knob is $18 plus shipping. To order contact me here http://www.HARDWARECITYTOOLS@gmail.com
You have alot of great information on your site on the hand drills. I am not a collector but I do have a few of the Goodall Pratt and Millers Falls hand drills. I can usually find one, two or sometimes three a year at garage sales.
I have not restored any of them, thinking that it would hurt the value. All of the ones I have work just find and alot of them still have the original bits.

Millers Falls Hand Drills
Michael, thanks for your kind words and for taking the time to comment. There is very little collector value to these great old tools so I would not be concerned with lowering that. In fact restored ones sell for much more than those in original condition unless the original is absolutely pristine. What is important to me is to keep these old tools working for the next generation. Tools are designed and built to work and that is what they should do. Some tools, due to their rarity need to be collected and preserved, but most old tools were made by the millions and should be cleaned, repaired and put back to work. One of my goals with this blog is to put as many of the old handtools back to work as possible and to encourage others, such as yourself, to do the same.
thank you, do you have suggestions for rust removal? take a look at the pictures on my site, you can see the rust. I think that is my major problem. I can turn the knobs I need, clean and paint them without problems.
Are there parts out there or do you have to make them yourself?
I browsed around your site, you have alot of good information. I too have the Craftsman 10″ tabletop bandsaw and went thru many of the same adjustsments you did. I also got my saw online at a god price. I still have problems with the motor not being powerful enough to cut 4/4 stock quickly, I have to stop and let the motor catch up. And I am using a 1/4″ x 6PC blade. Do you have the same problem?
I get my blades from from Timber Wolf.
I have settled on electrolysis and Evaporust for rust removal. Evaporust can be found at a local auto store. You will find an article on electrolysis on my blog.
Your blade is too fine. Try a 3 tpi 1/4″ blade from Timber Wolf or Highland Woodworking.
Please feel free to email me here.

thank you, I will give the Evaporust a try.

Jim, I don’t know if the MF#2 is the same as the MF #118 and I’m not sure how to find out with any degree of certainty. You can contact me here in the future HARDWARECITYTOOLS@gmail.com
