Visiting an Old Friend

On Friday I had the pleasure of visiting a friend that I haven’t seen in several years, Chris Schwarz. He was teaching a class at the Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking on building his famous tool chest. It was great to see Chris after so many years, but seeing the construction of the tool chest was a great added pleasure. I do plan on building one of these.

I have been in the antiques business for several decades and have cleaned out many estates. In the process of which I have seen, and examined, many old tool chests. In my experience Schwarz has pretty much nailed it with his design. This is an almost perfect tool storage solution for the handtool woodworker. Try one and you will see Schwarz is right on with his design.

For more information on this toolchest look here. You can also find more information in the December 2011 issue of Popular Woodworking #194.

As always, thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave a comment.
